Tan Son Nhat-style arrivals — Fiumicino international arrivals
Most intercontinental and extra-Schengen flights arrive at Terminal 3, while flights from the Schengen area arrive at Terminal 1. Here is the step-by-step flow and the options waiting outside.
The arrival flow
- 1. Disembark — international flights use the jet bridges of Terminal 3 (or Terminal 1 for Schengen arrivals).
- 2. Passport control — non-Schengen passengers are processed inside the arrival terminal; Schengen passengers proceed directly to baggage.
- 3. Baggage reclaim — carousels in the arrivals hall of your terminal.
- 4. Customs — then the public arrivals area and its transport links.
From Terminal 3 into the city
- Train — follow the signs inside the airport to the railway station: Leonardo Express (every 15 minutes, 32 minutes, €14) or FL1 regional trains.
- Bus — the bus stands outside arrivals: Terravision (18), SIT Bus Shuttle (16), T.A.M. Bus (17), Rome Airport Bus (19), COTRAL (T3 stop); interregional coaches from stands 20–26.
- Taxi — the rank on the main road in front of Terminal 3; fixed fare to central Rome €55 (within the Aurelian Walls).
Have your passport ready for non-Schengen arrivals, and keep your baggage tag until you have left the terminal.
