Rome Fiumicino Airport — SkyBridge & satellite
The SkyBridge is the automated people-mover of Terminal 3: an Innovia APM 100 train that opened in 1999 together with the Satellite building (gates E31–E44). It is the only way to reach the satellite on the airside, and its two services run in one direction each.

How the SkyBridge works
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Opened | 1999, together with the Satellite building |
| Stations | Third floor of Terminal 3 · second floor of the gate area E31–E44 |
| Westbound (T3 → E31–E44) | Departing passengers only |
| Eastbound (E31–E44 → T3) | Arriving passengers only |
| Returning airside | Departing passengers may ride back, but everyone must leave the train in the main terminal building and departing passengers clear security again |
The satellite
The satellite building holds gates E31–E44 for non-Schengen departures. Arriving passengers leave the satellite by train only towards the main terminal, where they pass through the transfer security checkpoint to re-enter the departure area.
Services around the gates
- Prima Vista lounges at gates E51–E53 (non-Schengen) and Plaza Premium on the second floor of boarding area E, in the Tax Free Mall.
- The E gates are inside Terminal 3 — check the gate area on your boarding pass.
Give yourself extra time when moving between Terminal 3 and the satellite — boarding begins at the gate, and trains run continuously.
