Terminals at Rome Fiumicino Airport

Fiumicino operates mainly through two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic and Schengen flights, and Terminal 3 for extra-Schengen and intercontinental flights. A new Terminal 4 is planned. This page is the overview — each area has its own page.

The two terminals

  • Terminal 1 — generally used for domestic flights and Schengen destinations, with the A boarding area (gates A1–A83); expanded north-west after the former Terminal 2 closed in 2017 and reopened redesigned in August 2021.
  • Terminal 3 — the largest terminal, primarily extra-Schengen and intercontinental flights: E gates E1–E61, incorporating the former Terminal 5 and the non-Schengen satellite.
  • SkyBridge & satellite — the airside train linking Terminal 3 with gates E31–E44, opened in 1999.
  • Terminal 4 & future plans — the new terminal, runway expansion and new parking and services buildings on the way.

Moving around

  • Between T1 and T3 — both terminals sit in one airport complex with signed pedestrian routes; allow time and follow the terminal signs.
  • Inside T3 — the SkyBridge train is the only airside transport to the satellite gates E31–E44.
  • On the ground — the free Parking Line shuttle (every 5 minutes, 24/7) links the Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 Arrivals levels with the long-term parking; the Airport Line shuttle serves the Hilton Garden Inn and staff parking from Terminal 3 Entrance 3.
